Running at the Wilmington College Fall Classic on Friday, the Forester men’s and women’s cross country teams each finished fifth out of 26 teams in their respective race.
Leading the pack for the men’s squad was Joseph Herber who finished second overall out of 298 runners in 25:13. Alec Rosario was the second Forester to cross the line. He finished 15th in 26:04. Running to a 31st place finish in 26:33 was Lance Wood. Brian Menzie was 44th in 26:53 and rounding out HU’s scoring was Nathan Rupp who grabbed 60th in 27:11. Other Forester runners included Ethan Medley (107th, 28:15), Seth Murphy (108th, 28:16), Isaiah Laatsch (149th, 28:33) and Alan Huffman (271st, 33:12).
The University of Findlay took the men's title with 78 points. HU claimed fifth place with 152 points. The average five mile time for the top five HU runners was 26:23.45.
Gretchen Spahr paced the women’s team by running a 19:13 to finish tenth out of 241 runners. Cendall Ogle came in next for the Foresters, finishing 16th in 19:24. Not far behind was Erin Rockey who crossed the line with a PR of 19:28 for 20th place. Krystal McHenry came in 39th in 20:03. Natalie Spahr ran a 20:48 good for 68th place. Other HU finishers included Miranda Boyts (87th, 21:26) and Amanda Henningfield (106th, 21:47).
The Ohio State University won the women's race with 83 points. The Foresters finished fifth with 153 points. The average 5K time for the Foresters' first five finishers was 19:47.82.
Next up for the Foresters is the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge at Aquinas College on Saturday.
