First off congratulations to North Side for beating Snider, it’s a tough thing to do and it had been 21 years but the end of the game was marred and should be taken seriously. A melee broke out after the game and from the IndianaNewscenter videos it appears North Side’s coach Hall blows it off saying it was the Snider players who started it and that it feeds the rivalry. I don’t know who started the fight but there is no place for fighting in High School football and coaches need to take responsibility.
It may or may not have been Snider players who started the fight but the video shows after the original scuffle had been broken up North Side players are seen still trying to go after Snider players.
I have to agree with IndianaNewscenter “More of the Score” in that if North Side wants to earn the respect of the areas top teams they not only need to win but they must win with class and right now it appears to be lacking.

Butch posted on September 27th, 2011 @ 05:26:39Is this the same team that accused Huntington North of making racist comments and their team name is the "Redskins"? I'm sure that there are Native Americans out there that are offended by the team's name.
If my sources are correct, the Snider players were provoked and taunted into the fight. Not that it is a good excuse, but it is poor sportsmanship by the North Side players. It looks like the trouble begins at the top, thus the coaching staff at North Side.
Paul posted on September 27th, 2011 @ 11:32:42I have to agree with Butch in that the problem seems to begin at the top with the coaching staff at Northside. Is it just a fluke that there has been not one, but two instances that have involved Northside players in recent weeks? I have 25+ years of coaching experience myself and I know that one of the first things I teach my players is respect and sportsmanship and if you as a player or coach for that matter, can not respect others without even so much as a regret or constant excuse that 'WE' aren't to blame! Not acceptable in my opinion!! Do your job or find another one...... what are you teaching our kids?????
BONNIE posted on September 27th, 2011 @ 17:19:07I feel if there has now been 2 incidents 'of not our fault' and the North coach is blowing it off..something is not right and that is..respect and owning what you do. There is no place in sports for this kind of behavior and a coach that just shrugs it off is not teaching these boys how to behave in this world. There is more to a sport than the game..like learning respect and sportmanship and how to win and how to lose and endure!
