It wasn’t exactly how the Foresters had scripted it as they sat in fourth after shooting a 303 in first round action of the MCC Golf Championships at Orchard Ridge Country Club (Fort Wayne, Ind.). While heavy rains forced several delays during round two, the defending champs were never able to close the gap as they closed out play by shooting a 311 and 304 to finish fourth with a team score of 918.
Senior Jordan Dawes capped off his stellar career with his fourth All-Conference honor. He fired a ten-over-par 223 (73, 73, 77) to finish 7th overall. Joining him on the All-Conference team was teammate Josh Teulker who shot even par in the third round to finish in a tie for 8th place with a 225 (76, 78, 71).
Devin Dale carded a 236 (78, 83, 75) while Mickey Belt turned in a 238 (76, 81, 81). Matt Wilson rounded out the Foresters’ scoring with a 250 (87, 79, 84).
Marian took the team title with a three-round score of 889 followed by Indiana Wesleyan (901), Bethel (903), HU (918), Taylor (931), Spring Arbor (939), Grace (947), Saint Francis (976) and Mount Vernon (989).
Huntington wraps up its season with an overall record of 69-20.
