Gymnastic team falls short in regional

The Huntington North gymnasts fell short as a team on Friday, March 12 at the Regional competition held at Huntington North.
They finished fourth in the team battle with 103.00 points. Fort Wayne Caroll won the competition with 107.5 points followed by Fort Wayne Dwenger (106.1) and Fort Wayne Northrop (105.3). The group had set a new school record for team scoring when they stopped Homestead earlier in the year at home with a score of 104.05. They had hoped for an even higher team score for the regionals. It was not in the cards this time.
Jessica Baker was 7th in the all-around competition just missing a chance to advance to state in that category. Stephanie Freeman was right behind Baker in 8th place and Olivia Eckert finished in 18th place.

Uneven Bars
Stephanie Freeman - 5th (8.900)

The top six place winners in each event advance to the state finals; the top six place winners in the all-around competition advance to the state finals; all gymnasts who receive the score of the sixth place gymnast at the previous state finals meet advance to the state finals (Bars – 9.50; Beam – 9.250; Vault – 9.575; Floor Exercise – 9.650; All-Around – 37.425); the top two teams compiling the highest number of points at each regional shall advance as a complete team to the state finals; individual ties for advancement of the last position in the tournament series shall stand.
