The gymnastic squad from Huntington North took on the rest of the North Central Conference and finished in second place behind New Castle High School. The team scored 102.575 points behind New Castle's 102.875.
The competition seemed to hinge on the balanace beam event. One too many falls hurt the scoring of the local girls just enough to allow New Castle to eke out the overall win.
Jessica Baker took the all-around honors with Stephanie Freeman earning a third place.
Baker was second in the vault, took first in the uneven bars, second in the beam and also second in floor exercise to take the all-around honors.
Other notable finishes were Freeman 4th in the vault with Olivia Eckert finishing sixth.
The coach for Huntington North, Sherrill Ness, was named Coach of the Year during the event.
The next match for the girls will be a road trip to Elmhurst on Wednesday, February 23 starting at 6:30 p.m.
