The Huntington men’s soccer team traveled to Upland on Saturday where they fell prey to 18th-ranked Taylor University to the tune of 5-0.

Sitting atop the conference, the Trojans lived up to their ranking as they took control of the match from opening kick-off by scoring their first goal within the first ten minutes and then sprinkling four more throughout the afternoon to cruise to the 5-0 win. Huntington finished with eight shots, one on goal, compared to Taylor’s 18 shots, ten of which were on goal. The Trojans also owned a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

HU keeper Drew Mattingly took the loss and finished with five saves.

“Taylor lived up the their #18 ranking,” commented Coach Lawson. “They’re a very talented, organized and tenacious team. We gave them too many 1v1 situations and they made us pay.”

The Foresters (4-10-1, 2-5) are back in action on Tuesday when they host Spring Arbor at 4:00 p.m.
