Huntington Community Schools Special Olympics travelled to the University of Indianapolis for the State championships for Special Olympics. In the Junior Traditional division the Huntington Cougars laced them up to take on the Elkhart Raiders in game 1 three on three competition. Huntington prevailed 20-6 with Arizona Parker scoring 8 points, Luke Wood 4 points, Chrissy Canvin 4 points and rounded out the scoring with Darin Thomas scoring 4 points.
Game two had a the same score but the scoring was distributed Brandon Borntreger 6 points, Tori Harpole - 4 points, Luke Wood - 2 points, Chrissy Canvin - 2 points, Darin Thomas 4 points and Arizona Parker - 2 points. Congratulations Huntington Co. Cougars are the Junior Traditional Division State Champions and received GOLD medal!!!
In the Senior Traditional 5on5 the Huntington Co. Vikings defeated the Marion Co. ISC SE Lakers 40 to 34. For the Vikings Jacob Parker scored 16 points, Zack Wilcox - 6 points, Truby Parker - 10 points, Ryan Thomas - 4 points, Riley Morrett - 2 points and Nick McKoon - 2 points.
In Game 2 Vanderbugh Co. Purple Aces defeated Huntington Co. Vikings 48-11. Congratulations to the Huntington Co. Vikings who took second place in the Senior Traditional Division State Championships and received a SILVER medal!!
