Huntington County Schools Special Olympics will be hosting the 5th Annual Huntington County Invitational Basketball Tournament on Saturday, January 21. The tournament will take place at Riverview Middle School and the Horace Mann Education Center. Opening Ceremonies begin at 9:00am with the competition tipping off at 9:30am.
Tournament organizers are expecting 35 teams from 18 Indiana counties. Over 290 Special Olympic athletes will be participating in 5 v 5 games, 3 v 3 half-court games and basketball skills events.
The Huntington County 5 v 5 Vikings play the Porter County Boilermakers and the Huntington County Raiders match up against the Elkhart County Raiders. Both games are at 11:30am. The Huntington County Thunders Masters 5 v 5 team goes against the Grant County Lightning at 1:30pm.
Other area teams participating include the Allen County Jaguars, ARC/Easter Seals Raiders, Adams-Wells Bulldogs and four teams from Grant County. Teams from as far away as Porter County, Wayne County and Hamilton County will be traveling to the tournament.
