Boester Earns Athlete of the Week Honors

The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of January 30-Feburary 5, 2012.  Men’s basketball freshman Ryan Boester earned the honor for his outstanding effort in HU’s 81-77 upset over 4th-ranked Grace College.

Boester, a business major from Auburn, Ind. (DeKalb High School) scored a career best 24 points to spearhead a late game rally to knock off the Lancers on their home turf Saturday afternoon. With just under six minutes remaining, he caught fire by draining three consecutive treys to single-handedly turn HU’s four-point deficit into a five-point advantage and will the Foresters to a win. He finished the day 6-for-8 behind the arc in addition to snagging four rebounds and dishing out two assists.

He is currently averaging 9.6 points and a team-high 3.7 assists per outing. 

Huntington (14-10, 6-6) is back in action on Tuesday when they host Indiana Wesleyan University at 7:00 p.m.  

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women.
