The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of November 7-13, 2011. Men’s cross country senior Joseph Herber earned the honor for his outstanding effort at the MCC Championships on Saturday.
Joseph Herber (Fremont, Ind., Fremont H.S.) ran to a first place finish at the MCC Championships at Shanklin Park in Goshen, Indiana on Saturday, His winning time of 24:55 was six seconds faster than his closest competitor and for his efforts, he earned his third cross country All-Conference honor.
As a team, the Foresters captured the conference title for the fifth time in program history to earn an automatic bid the 56th annual NAIA National Cross Country Championships to be held on November 19 at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Washington.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 187 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S.News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
