Kennedy earns National Honors

The NAIA national office announced today that Huntington University senior forward, Caleb Kennedy has been named the NAIA National Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 9-15, 2012. 

Kennedy, a business management major from Charlottesville, Ind. (Eastern Hancock High School), helped guide the Foresters to a trio of wins this past week.  He started the week with 19 points and nine rebounds in HU’s 84-76 upset over the No. 6 Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan University on Tuesday.

He followed that up with 23 points, a career best 19 rebounds and four assists in a 76-67 win over Mount Vernon Nazarene University two days later. He capped off the week with his eighth double double of the season, 26 points and 11 boards, in an 81-71 win over Spring Arbor University on January 7.

For the week, he averaged 22.7 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals. He shot 53.2 percent (25-of-47) from the field and made 18-of-31 free throws (.581). Kennedy sits 14th in the NAIA in both scoring (20.3 ppg) and rebounding (9.1 rpg).

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 187 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
