Merryman earns Athlete of the Week

The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of December 5-11, 2011.  Men’s basketball sophomore Shane Merryman earned the honor for his outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Merryman, an elementary and special education major from Fort Wayne, Ind. (Carroll High School) had a solid week to help lead Huntington to a 1-1 record.  On Tuesday at Marian, Merryman netted a game-high 17 points, pulled down 11 boards and swatted three shots in the 64-56 victory.  Against Grace on Saturday, he finished with 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting. He also grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists. Merryman currently averages 15.0 points and a team-high 8.3 rebounds per contest. 

Huntington (8-3) is back in action on Tuesday when they host Rochester College for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women.
