Speed earns Forester Athlete of the Week

The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of December 12-18, 2011.  Women’s basketball sophomore Pazia Speed earned the honor for her outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Speed, an elementary education major from Portland, Ind. (Jay County High School) helped guide the Foresters to two road wins this past week. In HU’s 61-51 decision over IUSB on Tuesday, she scored a game-high 16 points on 7-for-13 shooting and dished out three assists. On Saturday at the University of Rio Grande, Speed tossed in another game-high 16 points and finished with four assists in the Foresters’ 66-62 win over the RedStorm.

Speed currently leads the team in scoring with her 15.8 ppg average. She also average 3.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest.

Huntington (6-4) is back in action on Friday when they host Judson University at 7:00 p.m.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 187 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
