The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of January 9-15, 2012. Men’s basketball sophomore Nick Teeter earned the honor for his outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.
Teeter, a recreation management major from Berne, Ind. (South Adams High School) came off the bench to help lead the Foresters to three MCC wins this past week. In Tuesday’s 84-76 road win upset over 6th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan, he scored a career best 19 points which included going 7-for-8 from the charity stripe in the final minute to ward off a Wildcat comeback.
Against Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Thursday, Teeter finished with eight points and two assists in HU’s 76-67 victory. He wrapped up the week by scoring 12 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out three assists in an 81-71 decision over Spring Arbor on Saturday.
Teeter finished the week shooting 52.6% (10-for-19) which included 7-for-14 from behind the arc. He also knocked down 12 of his 15 free throws for 80.0% and ripped down ten rebounds.
Huntington (12-6, 4-2) is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Goshen College for a at 7:00 p.m. MCC matchup.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 53 NAIA All-America honors and 187 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
