Wednesday night was Senior Night for the boys and girls swimming teams. It was a chance for parents to beam, seeing their swimmers highlighted on center stage. In front of a standing room only crowd, the boys (6-5-1) defeated Marion 97 to 77 behind the first place efforts of the 200 Medley Relay team of Dan Scher, Skyler Ruschhaupt, Chris Royer, and Shaun Marion. Also Ruschhaupt won the 200 Free, 100 back, and 400 Free Relay. Scher won the 100 Fly, 100 Breast, and 400 Free Relay. Marion won the 200 IM and 400 Free Relay. Royer won the 50 Free and 100 Free, and Casey Dubuc won the Diving.
The girls team (9-5) also bested the Giants with a 112 to 68 victory. Andrea Okuly won the 200 Free, 100 Back, and 400 Free Relay. Mariah Patrick won the 200 IM and 200 Free Relay. Linda Schmidt won the 50 Free and 400 Free Relay. Amanda Kaiser won the Diving, and Sara Karst won the 100 Free and 200 Free Relay as well as the 400 Free Relay. Cassie Hacker won the 500 Free and 100 Breast. Madie Wright and Emily Koons also won the 200 Free Relay. Taylor Feller was also on the winning 400 Free Relay team. Coach Christiansen did a great job of mixing up the athletes in some events that they don’t normally swim in as well. Congratulations Seniors.
It was also a chance for Coach Christiansen to fine tune his team for the upcoming sectionals in Warsaw this next Thursday evening.
