The Huntington North boys' track team had five state qualifiers Thursday night at the FW Wayne Regional meet. Junior Travis Gerding and senior Jordan Beaver were the first Vikings to gain a berth into next weekend's meet in Bloomington. Gerding took second in the discus and Beaver was third. The Huntington North track team finished second at their own Freshman/Sophomore Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Andrew Mason led the Vikings with first place finishes in both the shot put and the discus. Mason threw 127'1" in the discus and 46'2.5" in the discus. The 2010 middle school county track meet was held on Tuesday May 11th. Crestview took both the Boys seventh and eighth grade titles while Riverview took the eighth grade girls title and the seventh grade title was collected by Crestview. For the second year in a row, the Huntington North boys' track team won the NCC championship. This is only the school's second NCC championship in boys' track. However, this year, the meet was not nearly as close.
